Writing Gaming Material For Fun And Profit

Last week, I had my disability physical with the Veterans Administration.  It turns out I have degenerative arthritis in my neck, back, and knees.  My hand is still fractured from an injury from late 2008.  I've also got chronic acid reflux (as do many of my fellow service members who were exposed to burning trash - Go KBR!) which will pretty much keep me up at night if I don't take my daily Prilosec.

Ah, the spine of the ex-paratrooper.
What all of this means is that I am pretty much unhireable in any of the traditional jobs you have when you are in college.  Fortunately, the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill is robust enough to keep my bills paid while I am in school.  Still, you sometimes need to do a little more than pay bills.

All of that said, I've debated trying my hand at commercial product to bring in a little supplemental beer money.  Back when I was pretty active in the Twilight :2013 community, I got to talk quite a bit to one of the developers, Clayton Oliver, who mentioned that in all of his years of working for White Wolf and AEG, he never brought in five figures from the RPG job.  I am imagining that you pretty much need to run the company to make any meaningful money in the industry.

Fortunately, I'm not looking to make meaningful money.  I'm going to school to be a Clinical Psychologist.  I am guessing that pays better than an RPG mogul any day of the week.  I'm just curious what some of your experiences are with "the industry."

D&D Rocks.

Kellri made an a wonderful post over on the Knights & Knaves Alehouse thread regarding D&D Mastery.
AD&D is like a 3-power chord rocker. Anybody with fingers can do it with a little practice. A master though, makes it fucking ROCK & ROLL because they know how and when to riff off the tune and make it theirs - and that takes talent and practice.
 I love it.

A to Z Blogging Challenge

So, I decided to force myself to take part in the Blogging From A to Z April Challenge and use it as an opportunity to come up with a lot of information for my Adventures Dark & Deep campaign.

Starting Friday, expect six posts a week through April.  I've already started writing the blogs and have them set for a time delay release.

In case you are wondering what to expect, here are the first couple ideas.

A is for Armor
B is for Brigands
C is for the Church of the All-Father

I'm hoping I can balance the writing with school.  Wish me luck!

Half-Century of Followers!

Woo-hoo!  I hit 50 followers!

Not that that really means ALL that much, really.

I know I've been very bad at updating this blog, but I have been busy with school (I'm riding a 3.8 right now for the semester) and getting things together for my Adventures Dark & Deep game, and playing in Joseph's as well...

When I've got something publishable for my game (I'm thinking I'm going to put together my Wickster town information for distro when I've got it to a decent point), I'll make it available.  I'm shooting to have SOMETHING by the end of the semester.  We'll see.
